Noriko Miyake

Hi, I am Nori. I was born and raised in a beautiful small fishing port tonoriko-170x302wn, Mikuni, in Fukui, Japan. My childhood was all about sports; swimming for summer, skiing  for winter, a lot of activities like volleyball, table tennis, basketball etc throughout the years.

I graduated Fukui University to be a school teacher. My belief in teaching was quite influenced by Rudolf Steiner. I was deeply inspired by his books on human beings. His philosophy made it very natural for me to understand a meaning of treating people as a whole person, Body-Mind-Spirit, an essential foundation for massage therapist.

It was 1992 when I landed in Australia. Since then, including three years adventures in UK, I have made Sydney my second home while working busy in a couple of different sectors; education, journalism and media.

I never imagined I would pursue this way until early 2010, when I had my achilles tendon ruptured on a tennis court. It was my first experience to go through a long period of rehabilitation, physically as well as mentally. I witnessed massage treatment by a physio immediately improved my RoM. It has been such a lot of “wow” experiences that lead me to this path since.  I remember the moment my achilles tendon gone. I felt as if someone hit my leg with a ball or something from behind. It was literally a morning call to me and I am so grateful now that the call planned and delivered at a very best timing in my life.

I enjoy treating all age group, young, old, male, female. When I treat young athletes, I tune into so. When I treat fragile or elder patients, I tune into so. Based on remedial massage technique, I incorporate  different modalities such as acupressure/trigger point therapy, swedish massage, oncology massage, lymphatic drainage, polarity therapy and craniosacral to bring best possible outcome. It is privilege to see my patients fall into deep relaxation state and their eyes open clear and refreshed at the end of the session with very calm smile in their faces. Intuitive and Holistic is a signature for Nori’s Massotherapy.

Other than the therapy matters, I enjoy playing tennis and golf.I am a big fun of Pilates instructed by Fumi Somehara. I practice Yayama style Qi-gong at home. I love animals, especially dogs. I always had my dogs beside me since I was little. I farewelled Hanako, a kelpie-cross,  in September 2014, after almost 17 years together. I am still dog-less  since…😂
